Introduction to the contemporary piano repertoire;
Introduction to recent developments of the body/mechanism of the traditional instrument; including recent innovations and experimentations such as: Aliquot stringing, Electronic Augmentation of the Piano, Computer-Driven Reproducing pianos, Disklavier and others;
Introduction to important unconventional (extended) techniques in contemporary piano music such as: special effects produced on the keyboard; performance inside the piano; performance inside the piano with one hand and on the keyboard with the other; addition of foreign materials (preparation); use of sounds made on the frame/case of the piano; use of microtones; use of sound amplification; use of extramusical devices including addition of human sounds; new pedal effects.
