Digital Album Release Announcement
This 12 minutes Comprovisation is all about transformations.
It is a call for the reconstruction of the pianist’s identity and the fixed concept of a conventional pianist. Also to critique the binary categories like: Performer/ composer, Improvisation/Composition, Acoustic/Electronics and Human/Machine.
I aim to use the term “Comprovisation” as framework to describe in-between practice of Composition/Improvisation for this contemporary creative music practice.
“The piano+ is a performance system based around a conventional acoustic piano. The sonic possibilities of the acoustic piano include those available through extended techniques and preparations.” [Sebastian Lexer, 2012]
Towards a better understanding of the world of unsuspected sounds, musical units and preparation, also to expand extended piano techniques, During the last years, I have been exploring possibilities within the aesthetics emerging from the “Piano+” with emphasis on composition, the notion of space and immersion through potential alternations of acoustic properties, and the use of technology and new media.
This approach to the composition/improvisation allows me to have time as composer to decide the different aspects retrospectively and as improviser to bring a new musical experience for the first time to the audience. Furthermore, in electroacoustic music considering the technology in improvisation as a “material-generator” [Dudas, 2010; p.30] for composition has been always very important approach to music making.
*The primary sound source is acoustic sounds from piano, manipulated in real time by a computer music system.
